DUBLIN, Ireland - After a man’s body was found in a laneway that leads to an apartment block just off Convent Road, Gardai have launched an investigation into the incident.
Gardai were called to the scene and said that the man’s body was found at 8.30 am in Dalkey, south Dublin.
Investigation officials said that they are now trying to establish how the man sustained his fatal injuries.
According to officials, the victim might have died from wounds to his abdomen, but detectives are awaiting post-mortem results to confirm the cause of the death.
The man’s body remained at the scene until the Garda forensics team arrived there.
The State Pathologist had been notified and now Gardai have appeared for witnessed to contact the Dun Laoghaire Garda station in case they have any information.
A Garda spokesperson said, "Gardai in Dun Laoghaire are investigating the discovery of the body a male in a laneway in Dalkey. The body was discovered at approximately 8.30am this morning in a laneway that leads to an apartment block just off Convent road in Dalkey.”
The spokesperson added, "The body remains at the scene and the area has been sealed off for a technical examination. The office of the State Pathologist has been notified. Anyone who may have been on that laneway overnight or early this morning or anyone with any information is asked to contact Dun Laoghaire Garda station.”
