Irish military and helicopters participate in major exercise

DUBLIN, Ireland - A massive Defence Forces training exercise was planned to be held in Dublin on Wednesday.

Irish military, armoured vehicles and helicopters were set to be used in the exercise in the capital.

Ireland's Defence Forces made the announcement about the exercise in a Public Information Notice which said, “The exercise will involve over 500 Defence Forces personnel, including the elite Army Ranger Wing, exercising with our colleagues in An Garda Síochána."

Due to the nature of the exercise, further details including the location or timing of the exercise were not made public.

Officials revealed that the drill is set to involve some pretty intense elements of the military, adding that the public can expect to see "military vehicles, armoured vehicles, helicopters and armed personnel" somewhere in Dublin over the course of the exercise.

The note added, "We hope to keep any disruption to a minimum; however, this exercise is necessary to ensure that the Defence Forces are fully prepared when called upon."
