Officers seize thousands of cigarettes at Dublin Airport

DUBLIN, Ireland - In massive Revenue operations, officials have said that they have seized cash and contraband cigarettes in three separate operations. 

According to officials, they had seized 44,000 euros and 46,000 contraband cigarettes at Dublin Airport.

In a different operation, officers seized 14,000 euros from a British woman in her 20s travelling to Eindhoven in the Netherlands.

The following day, on Sunday, officers said that they had discovered 30,000 euros in the luggage of a Polish woman who was headed to Barcelona.

According to officials, detector dog Josie was responsible for finding both sums of cash.

Subsequently, the cash was detained in accordance with proceeds of crime legislation.

In a separate operation, officials revealed in a statement that detector dog Frankie was responsible for the seizure of 46,000 contraband cigarettes after another operation at the Dublin Airport.

They noted that the cigarettes, with an estimated retail value of 26,600 euros were branded as Kent and were found in the luggage of four Romanian nationals who had travelled from Istanbul.
