Road traffic collision kills elderly women in Dublin

DUBLIN, Ireland - A pedestrian at Woodside Grove, Rathfarnham was struck by a car at approximately 4.40 pm on Wednesday and killed on the spot.

The single vehicle road traffic collision left the pedestrian, a woman in her 80s, with fatal injuries.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and Gardai said that her body was removed to the Mortuary at the Tallaghth Hospital for a postmortem.

Meanwhile, Gardai added that the female driver of the vehicles had suffered minor injuries and was taken to St James Hospital.

The driver of the car was also in her 80s.

Gardai have said that they are now investigating the case and are appealing for witnesses.

The road was open to the public after a technical and forensic examination was carried out.
