Gardai probe Limerick village fire as 'suspicious'

LIMERICK, Ireland - Gardai have launched an investigation into a fire that broke out at a house in Patrickswell.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning, was attended by Limerick Fire and Rescue.

Three units from Limerick City and Rathkeale rushed to the scene after an alarm was raised and it took firefighters several hours to douse the flames.

Gardai attended the scene and later said that the fire broke out at the former Parochial House, located at Creamery Road on the outskirts of the village.

Officials have now sealed off the site of the blaze to conduct a forensic and technical examination.

According to reports, the house where the fire broke out was recently refurbished.

The investigation is now focussed on the circumstances around the blaze, which is considered to be suspicious.
