DUBLIN, Ireland - Unveiling its latest internal shuffle, South Korea's top mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics announced its new Corporate Vice President for its U.K. and Ireland operations.
Samsung Electronics named Conor Pierce as the company new Corporate vice President for U.K. and Ireland.
The company, which recently launched its latest initiative to celebrate the diversity of its workforce and leadership team around the world, has said that 158 executives globally have been promoted.
Samsung said that the company recently promoted 13 executive vice presidents, 35 senior vice presidents and 95 vice presidents.
However, Pierce was the only promotion to Corporate Vice President in the IM business globally.
According to Samsung Electronics, the promotion of Pierce - who joined the company in 2015 as Vice President of Mobile & IT - emphasizes the company's importance of the U.K. and Ireland market.
Before joining Samsung, Pierce was the Vice President at Nokia U.K. and Ireland.
Announcing his appointment to the role of Corporate Vice President, Samsung U.K. and Ireland, Samsung Electronics pointed out that Pierce has helped propel the company's mobile division to new heights during his tenure.
Pierce, who currently leads a team of 250 people at the company, has been credited with executing turnaround strategies for businesses across multiple geographies.
He has also been praised for having contributed to Samsungs continuous sales growth and profitability in the U.K. despite increasing headwinds in the country's mobile market.
Commenting on his promotion, Pierce said, "I am honoured by this recognition and proud to lead a team whose performance has been outstanding in what is a very challenging market. I am thrilled to lead them into 2019, in what should be an incredible year for Samsung."
