DUBLIN, Ireland - As part of an intelligence-led Operation targeting Organised Crime Groups operating between different jurisdictions, a joint Operation was conducted by the Revenue's Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Gardaí from Security and Intelligence section in West Dublin on Thursday.
During the course of the operation, two crates, which contained approximately 98Kgs of Herbal Cannabis with an estimated value of €1.96m were seized by Customs Officers at an industrial unit in Clondalkin.
Gardaí arrested three men aged 57, 49 and 32 at the scene and they are currently being held at Clondalkin and Ballyfermot Garda Stations.
In a follow-up search with the PSNI in Northern Ireland a 45-year old woman was arrested in Ballynahinch and approx. half a kilogram of Cocaine with an estimated value of £18,000 was seized. "Acting on information provided by colleagues in An Garda Síochána who had detained a number of individuals and seized a large quantity of herbal cannabis in Dublin, PSNI officers carried out a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act at an address in Riverside Meadows shortly after midnight," Detective Sergeant Johnston said Friday.
Investigations are continuing. No further details were available as this story was being filed.
