Man in 50s dies after collision between man and motorbike

DUBLIN, Ireland - A pedestrian has been killed after being struck by a motorcycle in the capital on Friday morning.

The collision between the two took place around 9.45am Friday morning on the Malahide Road, Dublin 5 between the Artane roundabout and the junction with the Kilmore Road, inbound.

The pedestrian, a man in his late 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to Dublin City Mortuary for a full post mortem examination.

The motor cyclist, a man whose age was not disclosed, was taken to Beaumont Hospital with minor injuries.

The stretch of road remained closed to facilitate a Garda forensic examination, while diversions were put in place.

Gardai at Coolock are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward, particularly any motorists who were travelling in the area at the time and may have dash cam footage.
