CO MEATH, Ireland - A young man has been killed in a single-vehicle collision at Headfort, Kells in County Meath on Sunday.

Garda in Kells are appealing for witnesses to the crash.

Garda and emergency services were called to the scene of a collision involving a car on the R163 at Headfort, Kells around 1:40am on Sunday.

The driver, a man in his late 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. His body was taken to the mortuary at Navan Hospital.

From initial enquiries at the scene gardai say it is understood the car the man was driving, left the road and struck a wall. He was the sole occupant of the car.

The scene at the crash site was preserved for examination by Garda forensic collision investigators and the local Coroner was notified. The road was closed to traffic and diversions were in place while forensic inspectors examined the scene.
