CO CORK, Ireland - A man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault that occurred in Cork last month.

As a result of the alleged assault on 12 September 2019, a man in his 40s remains in Cork University Hospital in a serious condition.

The man in his 40s arrested is currently being detained at Gurranabraher Garda Station.

Garda meantime have renewed their appeal for witnesses in relation to the alleged serious assault that occurred on Patrick Street, Cork close to the junction with Academy Street, shortly after 9pm on Thursday,12th September.

"We are appealing for anyone who was in the Patrick Street area from 8.30pm to 9:30pm to get in touch with us. We are particularly anxious to speak to the occupants of several cars which were on Patrick Street at the time of the assault. Also, anyone who may have any mobile phone footage or dash cam footage, to please contact us," Superintendent Michael Comyns said.
