Daring robbery of ATM on Main Street of Dunleer

CO LOUTH, Ireland - A daring robbery of an ATM using a probably stolen digger and lorry occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning on the Main Street in Dunleer, Co Louth.

Gardai from Drogheda were called to the scene at around 3:20am on Saturday after a report that an ATM was being stolen.

On arrival officers found an ATM had been damaged in a bank premises on the Main Street. The digger and lorry remained at the scene. A significant amount of damage was caused to the premises.

Garda are appealing to any person in Dunleer on Saturday morning between 3:00am and 4:00am and who saw anything unusual, and to any road users with camera footage, to make contact. Garda are also appealing to any person who saw any suspicious vehicles in the Dundalk area at this time.

Investigating officers believe those responsible left the scene in a silver Toyota Land Cruiser with a partial registration of 04-MH heading north of Dunleer. Garda are appealing for any person who saw this vehicle or knows the whereabouts of the vehicle to contact them at Drogheda Garda Station 041 987 4200, the Garda Confidential line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
