DUBLIN, Ireland - Gardai are appealing for assistance in relation to the discovery of a body in a burnt out car in suburban Dublin on Monday night.

Gardai were called to the Mount Andrew area, in Lucan on Monday night after receiving reports that a car was on fire.

Emergency services attended the scene. A body was subsequently discovered in the car. The scene was sealed off for examination.

The body was later removed to the Office of the State Pathologist, in Whitehall, Dublin, where a post mortem is scheduled to be carried out by Locum State Pathologist Dr. Heidi Okkers.

Gardai on Tuesday issued an appeal to the public for any information in relation to a Navy Toyota Corolla 05-CW-2225. This vehicle was sold last Wednesday and gardai are seeking information in relation to the movements of the car from that date.

Gardai are also appealing for anyone who may have information, including any road users who travelled in the area on Monday night who may have dash cam footage available, to contact Garda in Lucan Garda Station on 01 666 7300 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
