CO KILDARE, Ireland - Gardai are keen to talk to any witnesses to a fatal crash late on Saturday night in the townland of Greenhills, Kilcullen, Co. Kildare.

A pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was killed when he was struck by a car on the M9.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to the Mortuary in Naas General Hospital.

The driver of the car, a man in his early 20s, was uninjured.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examined the scene, while the M9 southbound between junction 1 and junction 2 was closed to traffic with local diversions in place.

Garda are appealing to anyone who may have travelled on the M9 southbound between junction 1 and junction 2 prior to the collision or who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have camera footage of the collision, to contact them as Naas Garda Station on 045 - 884300, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
