CO CORK, Ireland - A man in his mid-20s has died after the scrambler bike he was riding collided with a tree on a public trail on Saturday night.

Garda are investigating the fatal collision which occurred in Blarney, Co. Cork around 8:00pm on Saturday night.

Garda received a report of the incident, which took place on a public trail in a woodland area.

"From initial investigations it appears that the driver of the scrambler, a male aged in his mid-20s, collided with a tree. No other persons were involved," a gardai statement released on Sunday said.

"Emergency services also attended the scene where the man was pronounced dead. His body was removed to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem will be carried out."
