CO LAOIS, Ireland - Two men in their 40s appeared before a sitting of Tullamore District Court, in Tullamore, Co Offaly, on Friday following the seizure of €3.9 Million worth of Cannabis in Co Laois on Wednesday.
Two other men arrested the same day appeared before the same court late on Friday afternoon.
The 4 men were arrested at the scene of a raid carried out at around 9:15am on Wednesday by the Laois Drugs Unit supported by local Detective Units and National Units.
The search operation was targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs.
A vehicle carrying the four men was stopped by Garda in the Raheen area of County Laois.
"A search of the vehicle was carried out where a substantial quantity of suspected Cannabis Herb and a large amount of suspected Cannabis products were seized by garda," a garda statement issued on Friday said.
"The estimated value of this seizure is approximately €3.9 million."
"Four men were arrested at the scene. Two men in their 30s are currently being detained at Portlaoise Garda Station while two men in their 40s are currently being detained at Tullamore Garda Station."
"All four men are detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996," the statement said.
Gardai added that investigations are ongoing.
