DUBLIN, Ireland - The Health Protection Surveillance Centre in Ireland has announced another twelve people have died from Covid-19.
The latest deaths push the overall toll above 2,000 to 2,006.
The HPSC has also reported 379 new confirmed cases taking the total above 69,000 to 69,058.
282 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalised, while 33 of those are in ICU.
"Today we sadly report over 2,000 deaths associated with COVID-19 to date in this country. This pandemic has impacted, directly and indirectly, on families and communities all across Ireland," Dr. Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health said Wednesday night.
"It is important that we continue to work together if we are to suppress this virus and protect as many people as possible. For the next two weeks, work from home, stay at home and follow public health advice."
