CO CORK, Ireland - A woman has been killed after being struck by a vehicle on Tuesday morning.

The tragic incident took place on Greenane Street Lower, Kanturk, Co. Cork around 8:15am Tuesday.

The pedestrian, a woman aged in her 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body remained at the scene at this time, to later be taken to Cork University Hospital (pictured) for a post-mortem examination. No other injuries were reported.

The road was closed to allow for Forensic Collision Investigators to carry out a technical examination. Local diversions were put in place.

Gardai in Mallow are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to make contact with them.

They are appealing to any person who was on Greenane Street Lower, Kanturk, or the immediate vicinity, between 8:00am and 8:45am on Tuesday morning to contact them. Any road users who were in Kanturk at the time, and who may have camera footage (including dashcam), is asked to make this footage available to investigating Garda.
