DUBLIN, Ireland - 'Today FM' DJ Paula MacSweeney has said she left IKEA crying after a "horrible experience" this week.
The radio personality, seven months pregnant, revealed that "multiple staff members watched her struggle" with heavy items and provided no assistance.
"I was in IKEA Thursday - new baby, new nursery - a horrible experience!" Paula said. Several employees observed me struggling to load very heavy boxes onto my trolley in the warehouse. They were laughing in groups, and many were on their phones.
It took another customer offering assistance for her to receive the help she required, she said.
"I managed nine boxes on a trolley (thanks to the gentleman who helped me with the last one, I couldn't lift it high enough to stack it, and he came over to help," she continued. "Because he is decent and polite! I paid for my items and then went to deliveries, where I broke down."
"One of my items had three parts rather than two. I was told I needed to get the third box. I asked the staff member if anyone could assist me because I was seven months pregnant and completely exhausted. No, it's "self-serve only; bring it yourself," the staff member allegedly said.
The mother of two, soon to be three, said she couldn't understand why she was mistreated and sobbed her way out of the store.
I dragged another box across the warehouse, passing several employees. Nobody offered help! "They all stood there watching me struggle and then refused to assist when I asked," .he said,
