CO GALWAY, Ireland - A pedestrian who suffered critical injuries after being hit by a car in the early hours of Sunday morning has died in hospital.
The man, aged in his mid-40s, was struck by a car on the N83 at Cahervoley, Cummer near Tuam in County Galway.
The collision occurred just before 12:30am Sunday.
The pedestrian was treated at the scene before being rushed to to University Hospital Galway (UHG) where he later passed away.
The driver of the car, a man in his 30s, did not require hospital treatment.
The road at the crash site was closed for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions were put in place on the N83 between Corofin Cross and Corrandrum National School.
Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward. Road users with camera footage (including dashcam) who were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make it available to investigators.
