CO WEXFORD, Ire land - Garda have launched an investigation into a fatal assault that occurred in County Wexford on Thursday evening. The incident took place at a home in Westbury Woods, Enniscorthy, resulting in the death of a man in his 40s.
At approximately 8pm on May 25th, authorities received reports of an unresponsive male with severe injuries at the scene. Tragically, medical professionals pronounced the man dead upon arrival, and his body remains at the residence.
The office of the State Pathologist has been notified, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted on Friday in order to determine the exact cause of death.
As part of the ongoing investigation, a man in his 20s has been apprehended and is currently in custody at a Garda station in Wexford.
Enniscorthy Garda station is overseeing a comprehensive inquiry into the incident, led by a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO). Additionally, a Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been appointed to provide support to the victim's family and keep them informed throughout the investigation process.
To aid the investigation, the residence at Westbury Woods has been cordoned off to facilitate a thorough forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
