Teen Cyclist Dies After Collision with Van in Suburban Dublin

DUBLIN< Ireland - A 19-year-old cyclist has died after being struck by a van on Wedesday  at Lucan, in suburban Dublin, about 12 kilometres west of the city centre.

The collision occurred shortly after 7:30am Wednesday at the junction of Griffeen Avenue (R136) and Balgaddy Road.

Emergency services treated the young man at the scene before he was taken to Tallaght Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported.

Garda forensic collision investigators are examining the scene, with local traffic diversions in place. The coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem will be conducted in due course.

Investigating officers are urging witnesses or anyone with dashcam or other footage from the area at the time of the incident to come forward.
