CO CORK, Ireland - An investigation has begun into the circumstances of a head-on collision on Monday involving a car and a truck.

The two vehicles collided on the N71 road between Ballinhassig and Innishannon, Co. Cork on Monday at approximately 7:15am.

The driver of the car, a youth in his late teens, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed to allow a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions were put in place.

Investigating officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-am) and were travelling in the area between 7:00am and 7:30am on Monday morning are asked to make this footage available to investigators.
