CO CORK, Ireland – Gardaí are continuing their investigation following the death of a man in his 30s after an incident in the Hollyhill area of Cork City in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Emergency services, including Gardaí, were called to the scene at Hollyville, Hollyhill, shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2025, following reports of a disturbance involving two individuals.
A man, aged in his 30s, was treated at the scene before being transported to Cork University Hospital. He was later pronounced dead.
A post-mortem examination has been completed to determine the cause of death. However, for operational reasons related to the ongoing investigation, authorities have not released the results.
As part of their inquiries, a man aged in his 50s was arrested at the scene. He continues to be detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in County Cork.
Gardaí are continuing to appeal to the public for assistance. They are particularly keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have been in the vicinity of Hollyville, Hollyhill, between 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Investigators are also asking anyone with camera footage, including dashcam recordings from the area during that time frame, to make it available to them.
