Young man dies in single-car collision on R702

CO WEXFORD, Ireland - A man in his 20s has died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the R702 near Curraghgraigue, Enniscorthy, on Monday morning.

The crash, which involved only the car the man was driving, was reported to emergency services at approximately 11:30 a.m. Gardaí and ambulance crews rushed to the scene, but the driver was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.

The victim's body was later removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford, and the local coroner has been notified of the death.

The R702 was closed for several hours to allow Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct a technical examination of the scene. The road has since fully reopened to traffic.

No other injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.

Investigating Gardaí are continuing to examine the circumstances that led to the crash. Anyone with information, particularly those who travelled the route between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Monday, 18th May 2026, is asked to contact Enniscorthy Garda Station.
