CO MONAGHAN, Ireland -A 47-year-old man has died after being struck by a vehicle in a road traffic collision on Broad Road, Monaghan, in the early hours of Saturday.
The incident occurred shortly before 1:00am and involved an SUV and a pedestrian. The man was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with serious injuries. He passed away in hospital later that day.
The coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out.
Gardaí are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing to the public for information. Witnesses, or anyone who was in the area at the time and may have dash-cam or other camera footage, are asked to come forward.
