Tragic outcome after bus collides with pedestrian on N7

CO KILDARE, Ireland - A man in his 30s who was seriously injured after being hit by a bus while walking on Saturday has died in hospital.

The collision between the man and the bus occurred on Saturday afternoon at around 3:30pm. It took place on the N7 motorway eastbound, at Kill, Co. Kildare.

The bus collided with the man between junction 8 and junction 7 eastbound on the N7 motorway. The pedestrian was seriously injured and was rushed to Tallaght University Hospital. He died on Saturday night. A post mortem will take place in due course.

Two passengers on the bus were injured but their injuries have been described as non-life threatening. The driver, a man aged in his 30s, was uninjured.

The N7 motorway between junction 8 and junction 7 eastbound was closed to enable a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The road remained closed overnight with diversions in place.

Gardai have opened an investigation into the incident and are appealing for any witnesses o come forward.

Investigating officers are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dashcam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to make this footage available to them.
