CO TIPPERARY, Ireland - A man in his 40s has died following a single-vehicle crash in Birdhill, Co Tipperary, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene after a car left the road on the R445. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The body of the victim was later taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick. A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out in the coming days.
The road was closed for a period on Sunday as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conducted a detailed examination of the scene.
Investigations into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
Tragically, the fatal collision was the second in Co Tipperary in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A woman in her 80s was killed in a single-vehicle crash on the road in Toomevara, Nenagh, sometime between midnight and 2:20am Sunday.
