Dundalk man charged over €137k cannabis operation faces court

CO LOUTH, Ireland - A man in his 50s has appeared before Drogheda District Court on Thursday in connection with the discovery of a cannabis grow operation at a home in Dundalk, Co. Louth.

The appearance follows a search carried out by Gardaí from the Dundalk Drugs Unit on Wednesday, during which officers uncovered a cannabis cultivation setup inside the property. Gardaí seized approximately 2.5kg of harvested cannabis and 109 cannabis plants, with an estimated combined street value of €137,200.

The man was arrested at the scene and detained at a Garda station in Co. Louth. He was later charged ahead of his scheduled court appearance at 10:30am on Thursday.

The seized substances will now undergo analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.

Gardaí say investigations are continuing.
