Seriously injured young woman hospitalised after RTC

CO LIMERICK, Ireland - Investigators are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Limerick city on Saturday afternoon.

Gardai and emergency services were alerted to the collision involving a truck and a pedestrian on the Corbally Road that occurred shortly before 12:30pm Saturday.

The pedestrian, a teenage girl aged 19, a student, was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of serious head injuries.

She was later transferred to Cork University Hospital, which has a Major Trauma Centre (MTC) specialising in head injuries.

No other injuries were reported. 

The road was closed as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct eda technical examination and local diversions were put in place.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dashcam) and who were travelling on the Corbally Road in Limerick city between 11:45am and 12:45pm on Saturday are asked to provide it to investigators.
