Woman injured in last Fridays multi-vehicle car crash, dies

CO MEATH - A woman injured during a multi-vehicle road traffic collision last Friday has died.

Five vehicles were involved in the crash which took place around 11:10am Friday in Platin, Drogheda, Co. Meath.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to the collision involving five vehicles on the M1 northbound, just before the toll bridge.

Three people were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda for treatment.

One of those, a woman, aged in her 80s, is th eperson who has died. The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the investigation and Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

Gardai say investigations are ongoing.
