DUBLIN, Ireland - An elderly man has died and three others were hospitalised following a serious collision involving a bus in Dublin city centre on Thursday afternoon.

Gardaí and emergency services were called to North Earl Street, Dublin 1, shortly after 12:35pm on Thursday.

A pedestrian, a man in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Coroner has been notified, and a Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to support his family.

A second pedestrian, a man aged in his 20s, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and is receiving treatment in hospital. The bus driver, a woman aged in her 50s, and a woman pedestrian in her 30s were also treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A Senior Investigative Officer has been appointed to lead the probe from an incident room at Store Street Garda Station.

In an appeal for information, An Garda Síochána has asked anyone with photographs or video of the incident not to share them online but to provide them directly to the investigation team. They are particularly keen to speak to anyone in the area between 12:15pm and 1:00pm who may have dash-cam or other camera footage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Store Street Garda Station at 01 666 8000, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

Gardai say investigations are ongoing.
