6.0-magnitude quake hits New Ireland Region, Papua New Guinea -- GFZ

BEIJING, Sep. 17 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 jolted New Ireland Region, Papua New Guinea at 1659 GMT on Tuesday, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 5.49 degrees south latitude and 153.79 degrees east longitude.
