CO CORK, Ireland - A woman has died and a man has been seriously injured following a two-vehicle collision on the N25 Midleton to Youghal Road in Co Cork on Monday evening.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:15pm near the Two Mile Inn, prompting an emergency response from Gardaí and other emergency services.
The woman, aged in her 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has since been removed for a post-mortem examination.
A man, also in his 60s, who was travelling in the same car as the woman, was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment. His injuries are believed to be serious. No other injuries were reported.
The N25 Midleton to Youghal Road was closed in both directions following the collision, with local diversions put in place. The closure remained in effect overnight and into Tuesday morning as Garda forensic collision investigators carried out a detailed examination of the scene.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
