CO LOUTH, Ireland - Approximately €150,000 worth of suspected herbal cannabis has been seized by Gardaí in County Louth following a major intelligence-led operation.
The raid, which took place on Monday, resulted in the confiscation of an estimated 7.5 kilograms of the drug. A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and is currently being held under drug trafficking legislation at a Garda station in the county.
The operation was a coordinated effort involving the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), the Dundalk Drugs Unit, and the Revenue Customs Service.
The suspected cannabis has been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for detailed analysis to confirm its exact value and composition.\
The seizure of this quantity of drugs represents a significant blow to the illicit drug trade in the region, demonstrating the effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation in tackling organised crime.
Investigations into the seizure are described as ongoing.
